Were ALL the proofreaders at The Age made redundant?

I am fully aware that being stuck at home sick for so long is turning me into a grumpy (and possible senile) old woman, but I was nonetheless exasperated upon reading Fiona Scott Norman's article in today's Epicure to learn that:
- the Melbourne venue smoking ban was introduced on June 31 2007 (think about it);
- outdoor smoking areas are springing up due to the "wilyness" of bar owners; and
- Lily Blacks is apparently in a city laneway called Myers Place.

Grrr!

I believe the answer is, indeed, 'yes'. Although I find the 'slips' mentioned far less teeth-grittingly annoying than bloody Kate Bloody Holden's ridiculously over-blown column in the A2 section. Gets my goat, every time!
P.S I heart your blog.

You were obviously paying a little more attention than me as I rushed through Epicure and Coffee before work. I DID notice "east" instead of "eat".....

Jacqueline, I heart your comment. Thanks!
I know, they're just slips. I think it was the fact that there were three in the one article that tipped me over the edge.
And yes, Kate Holden's writing irritates me too, she comes across as sooooo full of herself! Ditch her and give Marieke Hardy more column inches I say...

Hi Ali-K, good to hear from you! Any plans to revive your blog? :)

If not redundant, definitely 'down the coast' on summer holiday! Your comments are well deserved, but are you a couple of days behind your reading, I think this was in the weekend paper... :)

Ah, you've caught me Jack! When I said I read it "in today's Epicure", I really meant "on www.theage.com.au" :)

Very much hoping to revive my blog. I'm waiting until I'm certain I'll be able to give it the time it needs...I've had too many half-hearted restarts in the past.
Although noone I know is ever not "busy" so I probably should just jump right in.....

Hello, I really really enjoy your blog... and I'm a bit embarassed to be doing this but... in your blog list beyond melbourne you've got Grad Your Fork instead of Grab. Anyway like I said love your blog and I read it religiously - keep up the excellent work particularly the ones where your mum or your nonna cook!

What more can you expect from the morning editon of MX?

Yes, Ali-K, please do revive your blog! I know how it feels when you haven't written in ages, you feel like the first post back needs to be extraordinary to make up for the silence, and then writing an extraordinary post seems too difficult so you keep putting it off and the vicious cycle continues... my advice is just bite the bullet and write any old thing up! :)

Hi Irisav, thanks for the comment and thank you so much for pointing out my typo, I hate typos so am always very eager to correct them! The Java script thingy on this computer isn't working so I'll fix up 'Grab Your Fork' as soon as I get home.
Glad you like the blog - promise to write up another Nonna lunch soon! :)

Douglas - ha!!!! Nice one. :)
The tabloidification of The Age (especially the online version, my God) is one of my constant gripes.

I would not be surprised if Fiona (disclosure I know her socially) got Meyers Pl correct and the sub changed it and introduced the error.
