Thanks Emily, glad you're loving it. To the casual observer dumplings from scratch may seem laborious but I was actually surprised at how easy they were to make. And delicious! Very delicious. :)

Mmmm! Don't know how you do it, but food always seems to look better on your blog. (Not to belittle the various dumpling crafting attempts of all and sundry on the RDAF)

The ji cai definitely wasn't chives, but perhaps there is some flexibility in the translation. CC's mum told us once that she originally found Shepherd's Purse growing as weeds in a local park, and so transplanted some to her veggie patch - so that's definitely a possibility.

I think 'ji cai' is chives.

Hello there. I've always been a rather large fan of your postings but unfortunately, due to the delays experienced with the connections to google (obviously to collate statistics and the like), I am unsubscribing. Sadly, (and this is a slight against me not you) a ten to fifteen second wait at the end of your blog doesn't make it a quick option when looking over the various feeds I have subscribed to. All the best with it and I'm sure to check in every now and then. It's been a pleasure to read.
