I normally tend to go for entree + main rather than entree or main + dessert, so as you say it's nice to have the option of adding the dessert at the end (if you're not already full).

Hi Stephen, yes so many great restaurants in Flinders Lane! I've never been to Verge, but am an ardent fan of Cumulus Inc. Lunch with a fellow lawyer/food blogger sometime sounds good!clairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17271464994614942315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609138731901019917.post-19236401781499883512009-09-12T09:18:09.703+10:002009-09-12T09:18:09.703+10:00Ezard looks cool Claire. I have never eaten there although in Melbourne I share an apartment at the corner of Spring St and Flinders Lane above Verge and Flinders Lane is such a great food district now. We must have lunch sometime and double blog it :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06003221525762755700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609138731901019917.post-84612134490546604772009-09-11T16:10:08.947+10:002009-09-11T16:10:08.947+10:00Love a long express lunch. I fear those two bottles of wine may have had something to do with it.

Sorry to hear about your disappointing meal, Miles! About the salt thing, another reader made a similar comment on my review of Gingerboy. Personally, I've never found the salt to overwhelm the other flavours in his dishes.
Nice photo!

Reckon it's time you headed back for a revisit, Cindy! I must confess that the express lunch has certainly whetted my apetite to return for the degustation sometime soon... :)clairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17271464994614942315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609138731901019917.post-4166541187607591032009-09-08T10:50:18.747+10:002009-09-08T10:50:18.747+10:00Whoah. You can't argue with the price, but in the end my lunch was marred by how overly salted everything was - I could barely taste the food, and I am a big salt fan. I've had this problem before at a few big name eateries (e.g. Cafe Di Stasio) and hopefully it was just a one-off. Glad to hear you enjoyed the experience though.

What was funny when I was there was that the guy I met for lunch told the staff it was my birthday (which it wasn't) - so I received this very artful message on my dessert :)

http://twitpic.com/7op88Mileshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04199527461309714703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609138731901019917.post-66169069267271548352009-09-08T09:51:37.736+10:002009-09-08T09:51:37.736+10:00That rockling was pretty amazing in texture and fl...That rockling was pretty amazing in texture and flavour.
